Course Description:
This one-day course will develop and extend your ability to recognise and respond effectively in families when domestic abuse is taking place.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course you will have:
— Considered how domestic abuse is defined and recognised, as well as the main types of controlling and coercive behaviour in relationships
— Identified some of the effects domestic abuse and violence can have on children at different ages and developmental stages
— Practised some key skills in asking about abuse, considered in the light of some of the barriers to a person disclosing, and
— Developed your skills in assessing and contributing to plans for families where domestic abuse is taking place.
Target Audience:
This event is suitable for professionals in all Working Together Groups and meets the requirements of Level 3 of the Intercollegiate Document.
