This one-day course will develop and extend your ability to recognise and respond effectively in families where adult mental illness is having a negative impact on children.
By the end of the course delegates will have:
— Developed understanding of the definitions and prevalence of mental illness in adults
— Identified how parental mental ill-health can have an impact on children across a range of ages
— Explored the specific impacts of depression and personality disorder on adults, their parenting, and professional behaviour
— Considered learning from recent child safeguarding practice reviews (previously known as serious case reviews) where parental mental illness has been a feature
— Used a detailed case example to develop your understanding of how to contribute to more effective assessment and interventions
This event is suitable for professionals in all Working Together Groups and meets the requirements of Level 3 of the Intercollegiate Document.
