Course: Trauma-informed and Relationship-based Practice (Face-to-Face)
Date: 1 July 2024 — 10.00am-12.00
Trainer: Senior Educational Psychologist — Camden EPS Service
Location: Crowndale Centre, NW1 1BD

Course Description:

The programme will bring to participants the most up-to-date research and practice wisdom. They will be offered opportunities to reflect on the materials as well as to try out ideas in a safe space, to develop practice.

Course Objectives:

This trauma-informed practice in Camden (TIPiC) training will give an overview of how trauma-informed practice (TIP) underpins our work with vulnerable children and their families. TIP is an approach that helps professionals and services to work with all children in ways that minimise the impact of traumatic childhood experiences on social, emotional development, and thinking and problem-solving abilities (cognitive development).

This training will aim to develop staff skills to:

— Understand what children and young people may be communicating through their behaviour, rather than simply responding to it.

— Understand and identify the underlying needs of children and young people, and use evidence-based strategies to meet needs, including relationship-based practices.

— Reflect on effective organisational responses for those who have experienced trauma, including how organisations can support staff to enhance their resilience.

Attendees will be offered opportunities to reflect on the materials as well as to discuss ideas in a safe space.

Target Audience:
This event is suitable for professionals in all Working Together Groups.
