**COURSE FULL** 9 Dec 2020 — Working with Evasive and Hard to Reach Families
Course: Working with Evasive and Hard to Reach Families (Webinar)
Date: 9th December 2020 — 9.30am-12.30pm
Trainer: Mike Smith, Independent Safeguarding and Child Protection Training Consultant
Location: Virtually — Microsoft Teams
Many families have some reluctance, at least initially, to being worked with by professionals around their children’s care. For some, this will be to a degree where they are seen as evasive or hard to reach. The aim of this half-day programme is to introduce you to some of the indications a family is evasive or hard to reach, and offer some practical techniques to improve the likelihood of engaging effectively with them.
By the end of the programme you will have:
— Developed your awareness of the signs a parent may be evasive or hard to reach, and some of the possible reasons for this
— Clarified and considered some of the positions parents may take in relation to change, such as ‘resistant’, ‘disguised compliant’, ‘compliant’, and ‘motivated’
— Been introduced to frameworks for making sense of the change process, and
— Identified actions that professionals can take to support and encourage parents to consider and make changes.
This event is suitable for professionals in all Working Together Groups.
