Course Description:
This training will introduce participants to the work of the Exploitation & Missing Team and Youth Violence & Exploitation Team in Camden’s Integrated Youth Service.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will:
— Identifying risk of child exploitation and its impact on children and their families.
— Understanding the exploitative mechanism and how children may experience this, including barriers to disclosure and barriers to engagement.
— Camden’s borough profile and the issues impacting on children. Including an understanding of locations and emerging themes and trends.
— Challenging unconscious bias and adultification.
— Using contextual safeguarding to strengthen safety within our communities.
— Our approach to transitional safeguarding, supporting vulnerable young adults.
— Our tactical response to disrupting exploitation through a contextual safeguarding lens, including through our Multiagency Child Exploitation (MACE) panel.
— The Modern Slavery Act and our duty to identify victims of Modern Slavery through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).
— Understanding the local contexts of youth violence in Camden.
— Partnership response to incidents of youth violence.
— Community based support to prevent children being impacted by youth violence.
Target Audience:
This event is suitable for professionals in all Working Together Groups.
The CSCP will be delivering both face-to-face and virtual safeguarding training. Please ensure that you have read the course description, so you are clear on the delivery method for the course you have booked. Further details will be shared with you closer to the course date.

— Please make sure you can access Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
— There is an expectation that all delegates engage and fully participate in the sessions and always have their camera on.
— Keep questions general, and avoid giving any information that could be used to identify a child or family.
— Use headphones or a headset and always keep your speaker on mute if you’re not speaking.
— Don’t record any of the online conversation.
— Make sure other people you live with, especially children, are not in the room and cannot overhear sensitive information.
— Don’t use any other devices while you’re taking part.
— Join on laptop or PC for a better experience.
Failure of any of the above will result in the delegate not receiving their certificate of accreditation.
