Camden’s Inspection of Local Authority Children’s Service (ILACS) outstanding Ofsted report evidences our strong, relational and committed partnership approach to supporting children. Highlights from the report include:

  • Innovative and Ambitious Leadership: Camden’s leaders have strengthened services since the last inspection, maintaining a clear line of sight to frontline practice and providing effective support to the workforce.
  • Effective Early Help Services: Multi-agency interventions are tailored to families’ needs, informed by the voices of children and parents, preventing many families from needing statutory interventions.
  • Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH): Timely decision-making and strong managerial oversight ensure children receive swift and decisive help.
  • Child Protection Strategy Meetings: Well-attended by partner agencies, leading to coordinated responses for children at risk of harm.
  • Support for Children Missing Education (CME): Partnership working with schools and other services ensures children are quickly placed in education and monitored effectively.
  • Support for Children in Care: Co-located services from partner agencies, including housing support, virtual school, and mental health support, provide comprehensive care.
  • Support for Care Leavers: Close working relationships with local businesses and educational institutions secure work and training opportunities for care leavers.
  • Children’s needs are understood very well: Camden’s proactive anti-racist practice is visible in high-quality, detailed assessments that reflect children’s often very diverse needs. Practitioners and managers have a good awareness of the disproportionalities affecting Camden communities and seek solutions to help children and families overcome disadvantage.
